Dentistry for children

Looking after your children’s teeth

Child getting a dental check upChildren should be seen by a dentist on a regular basis, to monitor their teeth as they grow. At Windmill Dental Practice we try to encourage children to become involved in the way they look after their teeth from an early age.

We try to make dentistry fun and non-threatening and use as many preventative methods as we can, such as fissure sealing and careful brushing techniques.

Constant reminders are given regarding the consumption of sugary foods and drinks, and in most cases the ravages of dental decay and gum disease can be controlled.

As and when problems do occur, we have the equipment and techniques which help to make dental procedures as easy and as comfortable as possible for children. Two examples of this are the Wand, which is a small computer-controlled device which places anaesthetic in the gum as painlessly as possible, and air abrasion, which is a much gentler alternative to drilling.
